Top Paint Colours of 2014? Our Vernon Painting Company’s Predictions

Gray, gray, go away. Colour is back. Our Vernon painting company takes time to stay on top of paint trends, and the hottest colours for 2014 are anything but beige.

Think pastel. Mint greens, lavenders, peach sorbets, sky blues.

This year’s newest and most popular paint colours signal a major shift in home decor, where numerous shades of gray have reigned for the last few years. As painters, that’s kind of nice. We love to make rooms brighter, warmer, and even more ‘you.’

As Benjamin Moore said in its release of the “new neutrals” of 2014, “We’ve begun to see a shift away from gray to tints of blues, greens, lavenders and pinks.”

On your walls, you’re assured, they won’t look like “candy” or an “Easter egg.”

To help you imagine some of your favourite rooms in one of these soft new hues, our Vernon painting company has collected a few images and made a few notes about key paint colors set to be the most popular in 2014.

2014 Paint Trends
Lavender – This is a soft, feminine warm paint colour, but don’t think it’s limited to use in powder rooms and bedrooms. Since it can be quite light as well as calming, our Vernon painting company is seeing homeowners choose this colour for hallways, entrances (as in the photo below), and in home offices. Lavender paint can range from nearly white to almost purple, so you can choose the shade you like best for your space and decor.

Blue – Strong but subtle. Calming but commanding. Blue is the perrenial colour of choice for homeowners looking for a splash of something more to make a statement. The 2014 shades of blue you’ll notice range from a periwinkle to blueberries. A great choice for bedrooms and living rooms.

Pink – Yes, pink. So soft and gentle, it kind of feels like sitting on your grandmother’s lap. We love how this designer used a very subtle shade of pink for a soothing guest room. Notice how the whites, beiges and golds in the rest of the room’s decor seem to blend and yet pop with the pink?
Mint green – We said your room wouldn’t look like candy, and it won’t. The trendy greens of 2014 have more of the feel of an Atlas. A perfect choice for a little boy’s nursery as the backdrop to a nature-inspired room.
Modern Kids by Atlanta Interior Designers & Decorators Cristi Holcombe Interiors, LLC. Our Vernon painting company just did a boy’s nursery like this with wood furniture and it looked great.
